Fossil Discovery at Monkey Jungle

In 1994, a team led by former Dade County Archaeologist Robert S. Carr unearthed important paleontological discoveries in naturally occurring "solution" sinkholes at Monkey Jungle.

The 10,000+ year old fossil specimens--including teeth and bones from animals such as the American lion, dire wolf, Pleistocene horse and camel--represent one of the largest such finds in Florida.
